Naturopathic Acupuncture provides benefits of Traditional Chinese Medicine with Naturopathic Healing Principles
Acupuncture is an important part of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) which has diagnosed, treated and prevented illnesses for over 3000 years! Despite being thousands of years old, TCM and acupuncture are still helping patients today to improve their health and well-being.
Traditional Chinese Medicine is a medical system that views health as a balance between the two opposites the Yin and Yang. All of the creation contains within it Yin and Yang. The qualities of Yin and Yang are complementary yet opposing and make up everything in the natural world. Simply put, health is the harmony of Yin and Yang, while disease is disharmony.
The strategy of Naturopathic Acupuncture is to restore the balance between Yin and Yang using a variety of techniques such as acupuncture needling, herbal medicine, massage, fire cupping, moxa, diet and lifestyle advice. Our bodies are not static but rather are in a dynamic balance internally as well as with nature. Every day our bodies are making changes in response to various influences to maintain balance. When we are unable to adapt, whether due to a change in weather or the invasion of a virus, we fall ill.
Acupuncture is used to stimulate certain points on the body using small needles which helps balance Yin and Yang by supporting the flow of Qi energy (pronounced “chee”) within the network of energy channels known as the meridians. The needles used in acupuncture are very thin and typically do not cause pain when inserted. Depending on the condition being treated, the needles may be left in place for several minutes to an hour, and the number of treatments required varies.
